Considering a recent surge in the number of blow offs across the province, never has it been more important to ensure your roof can withstand the uplift pressures exerted by extreme winds. Goodwin can provide the technical equipment along with trained and experienced professionals to conduct official wind uplift tests recognized by organizations such as Factory Mutual and ANSI/SPRI. Additionally, we conduct testing to evaluate the strength of membrane bonds to substrates. Such testing helps to safeguard against workmanship or material-related deficiencies that may weaken the waterproofing qualities and/or wind uplift resistance of a system. RADON MEASUREMENT TESTING & RADON MITIGATION SYSTEM QUALITY ASSURANCE REVIEWS

In recent years, radon mitigation system installation has become a requirement of building codes throughout the country. Radon is an invisible, odorless, and tasteless gas that enters buildings from the soil. It decays into radioactive elements called radon decay products (RDPs) that stick to the lungs when inhaled and release particles that damage or alter cells. These cells have the potential to turn cancerous. In Canada, exposure to RDPs is the second leading cause of lung cancer. As such, radon mitigation systems are required in many jurisdictions where building occupancy exceeds 4 hours per day.

At Goodwin, we have Canadian – National Radon Proficiency Program (C-NRPP) certified professionals who provide quality assurance reviews to ensure each component of the radon mitigation system installation process meets industry standards. Our services include review and documentation of system design and materials, suction pits and piping, the gas-permeable venting layer, the membrane barrier system, and post-slab sealing and labeling.

Additionally, we provide radon measurement services to test radon exposure levels and determine whether mitigation is recommended. We follow Health Canada guidelines for testing and recommended action.

WATERPROOFING & DAMP PROOFING SYSTEM INSTALLATION QUALITY ASSURANCE REVIEWS

Waterproofing and Damp Proofing systems are vital to ensuring the building enclosure remains free of leaks. DRONE (RPAS) IMAGERY & INSPECTION SERVICES

Goodwin offers options for enhanced inspection services through the use of drone technology. With drones, we provide overall aerial shots of roofs or walls and navigate locations that have previously been difficult to view due to limited access, steep slopes, or unwalkable surfaces. We present a cost-savings alternative for projects where the setting up of scaffolding or mechanical lifts would otherwise be required. Additionally, we use our drones to survey solar panel arrays to locate potential dead zones, capture photos/videos of the progress of a building under construction, and provide imagery that can be used by real estate agents to enhance their listings. PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Goodwin is also able to take whole projects out of your hands and act as the offsite facilitator throughout the course of a project. Working to identify requirements, establish goals and ensure a successful re-roof. Services include coordination with the roofer; quality assurance reviews; construction document administration; review of safety documents and invoices submitted from the roofer; and follow up on all deficiency correction.
